Timisoara is one of the most important Romanian cities, located in the west of the country. It' been greatly influenced by its large minorities, particularly Hungarians, Germans and Serbs.

Timisoara was, for a long time, part of the Habsburg Empire and the buildings in the centre resemble the the ones in Vienna, which is why Timisoara is also known as "Little Vienna".

Timisoara is an important academic and cultural centre. The old part of the city has several historic quarters, which host important touristic landmarks, bars, clubs and restaurants.

Timisoara is served by Traian Vuia International Airport. By rail, Timisoara is directly connected to the major Romanian cities.
