The city of Galati is located close to the Danube Delta, a place world famous
for its flora and fauna. Galati has a population of around 300,000 inhabitants,
making it one of the largest cities in Romania. The first mention of the city
dates from the 15th century. Galati is home to the largest iron and steel plant
in Romania, Mittal Steel Galati and also to the largest shipyard in the country.
