Constanta is located in Dobrogea, an area between the Danube River and the
Black Sea. The city's history goes back to 657 BC when it was the Greek
controlled town of Tomis. After Romania became a Roman province, the Romans
renamed the city after emperor Constantine. Throughout history, Constanta was
destroyed, fell under Byzantine and Turks control. After the Romanian War of
Independence, Constanta became part of Romania, in 1877.

Constanta is the largest port at the Black Sea. The city is served by Mihail
Kogalniceanu International Airport.
