Arad is located in western Romania and has a population of aproximately
200,000. Arad municipality is one of the oldest settlements in Romania. The
traces of human existence can be followed up from the Neolithic Age.
After the 1989 revolution against the Communist regime, the city of Arad
become an important academic centre and a major economic centre for investors.
The city is served by Arad International Airport. Arad is the most important
trans-European road and rail transportation junction point in western Romania,
included in the 4th Pan-European Corridor linking Western Europe to
South-Eastern European and Middle Eastern countries.
